With its intuitive user interface, contemporary computer graphics and powerful solver, midas Gen enables practicing engineers to readily perform structural analysis and design for conventional and complex structures. midas Gen utilizes a diverse range of specialty finite element analysis functions as well as modern theories of structural analysis to render accurate and practical results. These features contribute to higher and unprecedented standards of convenience, efficiency, versatility and productivity for structural design.
The user-oriented input/output functions are based on sophisticated and intuitive User Interface and up-to-date Computer Graphics techniques. They offer excellent facilities and productivity for the modeling and analysis of complex, large-scale structures.
midas Gen enables us to readily create nodes and elements as if we were drawing drawings using the majority of functions used in CAD programs. Structures of regular patterns such as Truss, Arch and Frame can be readily created by Structure Wizard and inserted into the desired location on the global model.
midas Gen supports conventional model generation using nodes and elements as well as other means of generating models via data conversion. Data Transfer with Tekla Structure, Revit Structures is possible.
midas Gen provides linear and nonlinear structural analysis capabilities. A large collection of finite elements has been implemented for applications in civil and building structures. The program’s efficient analysis algorithms yield exceptional versatility and accurate results appropriate for practical design applications.
midas Gen provides Construction Stage Analysis capability, which reflects the time dependent material properties of concrete such as modulus of elasticity, creep and shrinkage.
Serviceability of floor structures can be evaluated by dynamic time history analyses. midas Gen provides a number of time history forcing functions for walking loads for floor vibration, including Baumann, IABSE, AIJ and Allen & Rainer.
Pushover analysis of 3-dimensional frame structures for performance based designs can be done for reinforced concrete, structural steel and steel-concrete composite sections.
Hinge connections are essential to pushover analysis in order to simulate displacement. Various hinge types for trusses, beams, columns, walls, and springs. Multi-linear hinges and user-defined hinges can be defined as well.
Hinge displacement control and force control features enable you to model force and displacement incrementally. This makes it possible to calculate the reactions of the structure over the course of several sequential steps. This capability is essential in pushover analysis since displacement due to seismic loading occurs incrementally and must be modeled as such in order to create an accurate simulation.
The program also checks for key design criteria such as drift limits, deformation, and strength capacity. This function saves you the time and effort of having to check these design limits yourself.
midas Gen’s seismic analysis functionality also includes highly detailed time history analysis for complex, high-end projects. For the seismic design and assessment of a structure, midas Gen offers a wide range of hysteresis hinge models such as kinematic hardening, Takeda, slip, etc. in the inelastic time history analysis. Hysteretic links have multi-axial response which makes them useful for simulating dynamic loading. Thus they are used to model the energy dissipation which occurs during the analysis.
A database of time history records is included so that you can use the parameters of prominent earthquakes in your project area for your analysis. Thus, you will not need to look up the records on your own and input they yourself. However, it is also possible to import your own time history records should you ever have the need.
midas Gen provides Heat of Hydration Analysis capabilities through Heat transfer and Heat stress analyses.

Midas Gen can handle the nonlinear analysis such as geometric nonlinear and plastic analysis including structural masonry materials.
The application of nonlinear analysis includes:
Material Nonlinear Analysis (Von-Mises, Tresca, Mohr-Coulomb & Drucker-Prager)
Structural Masonry Analysis
Analysis for finding Unknown Forces by Optimization
The post-processor can automatically create load combinations in accordance with specified design standards. Changing the type of display can produce various forms of graphic output. Practically all the results can be animated, namely, mode shapes, time history results of displacements and member forces, dynamic analysis results and static analysis results.
The post-processor can automatically create load combinations in accordance with specified design standards. You may conveniently specify additional load combinations or modify existing combinations. Member forces for weak and strong axes can be viewed simultaneously in Beam Diagram. Changing Type of Display can produce various forms of Graphic Output for examining reactions, displacements, member forces and stresses.
Practically all the results can be animated, namely, mode shapes, time history results of displacements and member forces, dynamic analysis results and static analysis results. Batch Output Generation offers capability to consecutively construct and produce specific Graphical Output for a number of load conditions.
Table Windows display all types of data entry, analysis and design results in the Spread Sheet format. Various kinds of data modification, additional input, compilation, arrangement for differnet characteristics and serching capabilities are provided in Table Windows. They allow transfers with common database S/W or Excel.
midas Gen’s state of the art report generation includes features such as graphical generation which allows you to define the function with respect to either time or distance. The intuitive drag and drop feature allows you to conveniently copy images and result tables directly from the program to your MS Word report. All of the data entered in the report can be modified and saved by the user in MS Word format without any limitations. Also, all result tables can be seamlessly exported to Excel.
